The former University of Tennessee quarterback hit for a .320 batting average with 17 homers and 91 RBI as the Rockies claimed their first National League pennant in franchise history. Today, Helton is a strong candidate for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and is the only Rockie with his number retired by the young franchise.
