Cincinnati Reds third baseman Ray Knight wore this white pullover home jersey during the 1979 season, his first full year in the show. Knight played 150 games for the Reds, hitting 10 home runs with 79 RBI and a .318 batting average, both career highs. The Reds reached the NLCS in 1979, although they were swept by the “We Are Family” Pittsburgh Pirates. Knight, the 1986 World Series MVP for the New York Mets, hit .286 with a double and stolen base during the 1979 NLCS.

This white pullover jersey has a Reds wishbone “C” logo sewn on the left chest area. The “C” is chenille stitched in white. Knight’s number “25” is sewn on the right breast and the back of the jersey in red tackle twill. “KNIGHT” is sewn across the back shoulders in red tackle twill. Red bands ring the sleeve openings and the collar. A Rawlings size “42” tag with an attached “Set 1 1979” flag is sewn on the front right inside tail of the jersey. Knight signed the back inside collar in blue marker. He added “#25” to his signature. All of the Reds knits from the 1970s era are a tough find, especially for the home varieties. This jersey, which shows light to moderate wear, comes with a COA from Beckett Authentication (C03620) for the signature and a LOA from MEARS (315822), who have graded this jersey a solid A8. There is also an additional LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema for the game use.
