The Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs wore this gray road New York Yankees Turn Back The Clock uniform on June 8th, 1996 against the Detroit Tigers at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers wore the uniform of the old Detroit Stars, while the Yankees, participating in their first ever throwback game, donned the uniforms of the 1934 New York Black Yankees. Boggs led off this game and played third base as the Yankees were defeated 9-7 by the Tigers. Boggs made his 12th career All-Star team in 1996, hitting .311 and scoring 80 runs for the 1996 World Series champions.

This offered uniform set includes Boggs’ gray road jersey and pants from the Yankees inaugural TBTC game. The jersey is a button-down, with “YANKEES” sewn across the chest in navy tackle twill. Boggs’ number “12” is sewn on the back of the jersey in navy tackle twill. Please note the second button from the top on this jersey is missing. A Russell Athletic tag with attached “100% Polyester”, “2[inch] Extra Length”, and “+3[inch] Sleeve Length” flags is sewn on the front left tail. Boggs has signed the chest of the jersey in black marker and the back of the jersey in blue marker. He inscribed “Game Used 6/8/96 Throw Back Jersey” and “#12” on the chest. Boggs’ pants in this lot are gray, with navy piping running down each leg. Sewn on the back inside waistband is a Russell Athletic size “35” tag and a “Boggs 35-29-96” tag. This lot comes with a LOA from JSA (Z77836) for Boggs’ signature and a COA from the Yankees for the jersey’s game use.
