This was the 21st season of Morgan’s career, and his only year with the Phillies. In 123 games, Morgan hit 16 homers with 59 RBI, 18 steals, and 72 runs scored for the 90-72 Phillies. The Phils won the National League East by six games over the Pittsburgh Pirates, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in a four-game National League Championship Series before falling to the Baltimore Orioles in the Fall Classic. Morgan played his 22nd and final season in 1984 with the Oakland Athletics, and he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990.
