Presented here is a 1947 Veterans Administration life insurance application signed by Joe DiMaggio. DiMaggio served in the Air Force during World War II before a medical discharge in September of 1945 sent the “Yankee Clipper” back to civilian life. DiMaggio reached the rank of Staff Sergeant before his discharge. This life insurance application is for the reintroduction of DiMaggio’s $10,000 policy, and it was signed by “Joltin’ Joe” in July of 1947. DiMaggio played 30 games for the Yankees in July of 1947, leading the Bronx Bombers to a 24-6 record while hitting .353 with five homers and 25 RBI. He has signed this form using his full name of “Joseph P. DiMaggio Jr.” in black pen. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z67478).
