This bat spans Frank Robinson’s last season with Cincinnati and his first three seasons with the Orioles. Robinson had a decade of excellence and a National League MVP Award to his credit when the Reds thought his best years were behind him. Robinson proved otherwise by leading his new team to a World Championship and winning his second MVP Award, the first and only time a player won the honor in each league. This Hillerich & Bradsby R161 model bat shows excellent use and has a crack on the handle and center brand. Several ball marks with stitch impressions are visible on the left and back barrel and there are cleat imprints found on the right barrel. Orange and green bat rack paint streaks are present along with a light coat of pine tar. The model number “R161” is stamped into the knob and Robinson’s number “20” and weight “33 ½” are hand written in black marker. The Hall of Famer has signed the barrel “To John Best Wishes Always” in black marker. An exceptional signed gamer from the only player to win an MVP Award in both leagues. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B10951) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8, plus a LOA from JSA (Z67453) for the signature.
