Babe Ruth worked a certain kind of magic with a baseball bat, captivating the adoration of millions of Americans simply by swinging a piece of wood better than any other human. Ruth revolutionized baseball and forced the sport into a modernizing world through his prodigious home runs and outsized personality. Ruth’s 714 home runs were the most in baseball history until the 1970’s, and his legacy still permeates the game today. Ruth was a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s inaugural class alongside Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson, Ty Cobb, and Honus Wagner in 1936.

Offered here is a stunning George “Babe” Ruth model Hillerich & Bradsby bat signed by the Great Bambino himself. Ruth has signed the barrel of this beautifully aged baseball bat in crisp black fountain pen, writing “Col B.D. Foulois From” above his iconic and measured signature. The quotations around “Babe” were placed on the bat by an unknown hand. Etched on the barrel of this bat is “Trade Mark George ‘Babe’ Ruth Reg U.S. Pat Off”. A Hillerich & Bradsby logo is applied to the lower barrel of this bat and “35” is etched on the knob. Benjamin Foulois, the recipient of this historic signature, retired from the military with a rank of Major General in 1935, having won the French Légion d'honneur, a Distinguished Service Medal, and the Order of the Crown of Italy during his decorated martial career. This bat is accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA (AD02862) and a LOA from JSA (Z55254) for Ruth’s signature.
