“Sweet Lou” Lou Whitaker was the Tigers leadoff man for almost two decades. Paired with Alan Trammell, the pair formed the longest running “double play” team in MLB history. This bat was used by Whitaker towards the end of his career when he recorded his 2,000th career hit as well as 200th home run. The Cooper K48 model bat is un-cracked and shows heavy use. The barrel displays many ball marks and abrasions along with a coat of pine tar on the handle. Whitaker’s number “1” is hand written on the knob in black marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B07027) for the game use.
