Roger Maris equaled Babe Ruth’s single-season record of 60 home runs during a 3-2 Yankees home victory over the Baltimore Orioles on September 26th, 1961. Maris, who would go on to break Ruth’s record with his 61st home run on the final day of the regular season, took Orioles starter Jack Fisher deep for a solo home run in the third inning to reach the 60 home run mark. Johnny Blanchard recorded the other RBI for the Yankees, who earned their victory on an eighth inning error by O’s centerfielder Jackie Brandt. Offered here is an encapsulated ticket stub to the Yankees-Orioles game on September 26th, 1961. Written on the face of the ticket is “Roger Maris hit 60th Home Run in 3rd inning” and “Attended by Bert Paul” in blue pen. Written on the reverse side of the ticket is “Roger Maris Hits 60th Home Run” in blue pen. This stub has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (25207895).
