The Hall of Fame centerfielder Kirby Puckett wore this Washington Senators Mitchell & Ness jersey and cap during a photoshoot for the 1992 Leaf Heritage Series trading card. The Heritage Series took contemporary stars and outfitted them in a uniform from a significant moment in their franchise’s history. 1960 was the final season in Senators history, as baseball’s western expansion sent the franchise to Minnesota for the 1961 season, while a new, unaffiliated Senators franchise was installed in Washington for the 1961 campaign.

This offered Senators flannel is a zip-up, with “Senators” sewn across the chest in navy and red tackle twill. A circular Senators patch is sewn on the left sleeve, and the number “3” is sewn on the back of the jersey in navy and red tackle twill. Puckett’s fellow Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew wore “3” for the Senators and Twins, who retired his number in 1975. Four ventilation holes are present under each armpit, and a Cooperstown Collection tag is sewn on the front left tail. A Mitchell & Ness tag is sewn on the back inside collar. Puckett has signed the chest of this jersey in black marker. The cap included in this lot is navy, with a red “W” sewn on the front. A MLB flag and an American Needle size 7 ¼ tag are sewn on the back inside sweatband of the cap. Puckett’s number “34” is handwritten in black marker on the underside of the brim, while Puckett has signed the same area in black marker. Also included in this lot is a 1992 Leaf Heritage Series Kirby Puckett card. The jersey and cap come with a pair of LOAs from JSA (Z67427 and Z67430), while a Letter of Provenance from Sports Memorabilia Authenticators also accompanies the lot.
