Jose Canseco made his mark as the up and coming slugger to watch when he smashed 25 home runs in a half season with the Huntsville Stars in 1985. The parent Oakland A’s watched the budding star eagerly and finally called him up on September 2. Canseco ordered this bat while he was with Huntsville and was most likely taken with him when he joined the A’s at the end of the season. Canseco’s pre-rookie Louisville Slugger P89 model bat is un-cracked and shows moderate use. There are several ball marks and abrasions on the barrel and a heavy coat of pine tar on the lower handle. Canseco has signed the barrel of his rookie-era gamer in black pen. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9, plus a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature.
