Offered here is a press ticket to Game 2 of the 1913 World Series between the Philadelphia Athletics and the New York Giants. This game, held at Philadelphia’s Shibe Park, featured a matchup of two Hall of Fame aces in the Giants’ Christy Mathewson and Eddie Plank of the Philadelphia A’s. Both men pitched 10-inning complete games, with the Giants scoring three runs in the top of the 10th to leave the 3-0 victors. An RBI single from Mathewson opened the scoring in the top of the 10th before a single by Art Fletcher scored Mathewson and Buck Herzog. Rube Oldring, Eddie Collins, and Home Run Baker were retired by Mathewson in order to close out the game. Unfortunately for New York, Game 2 was their only victory of the series as Plank got the better of Mathewson in the clinching Game 5. This ticket stub has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (18615211).
