Presented in this lot is an incredibly rare full ticket from Game 5 of the 1911 World Series between the Philadelphia Athletics and New York Giants. While Philadelphia won this series in six games, Game 5 at Polo Grounds belonged to the Giants. The A’s jumped out to a 3-0 lead off Rube Oldring’s three-run homer against Rube Marquard in the third inning. Starting with a Chief Meyers sacrifice fly in the seventh, the Giants began to chip away at Philadelphia’s lead. The Giants tied the game in the ninth inning with an RBI double from reliever Doc Crandall and an RBI single off the bat of Josh Devore. The Giants left Polo Grounds with a walk off victory after Fred Merkle connected on a sacrifice fly against the A’s Hall of Fame pitcher Eddie Plank. This full ticket has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (19395794).
