Offered here is a press pass for the New York Yankees game against the Philadelphia Athletics on May 4th, 1925 at Yankee Stadium. The A’s, the eventual second place team in the American League, defeated the Yankees by a score of 8-7 in a thrilling game. The eventual Hall of Famer Robert Moses “Lefty” Grove earned the first win of his career, pitching four innings in relief for Connie Mack’s men. Al Simmons went 4-5 with four RBI for the A’s, including the 12th home run of his career, a two-run shot of Waite Hoyt in the seventh that broke a 4-4 tie. Lou Gehrig appeared in this game as a pinch hitter, coming to bat for Ray Francis in the bottom of the ninth inning. This press pass has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (20613042).
