The Yankees and Dodgers met in the World Series for the second time in 1947. This series was an instant classic; stretching a full seven games it saw six Hall of Famers take the field. As was often the case in Yankees-Dodgers World Series’, the Yankees came out on top after a hard-fought battle. Presented here is a ticket to Game 5 of the 1947 World Series, a 2-1 Yankees victory at historic Ebbets Field. Spec Shea notched his second win of the Fall Classic with a masterful complete game performance, with his only blemish an RBI single surrendered to the trailblazing rookie Jackie Robinson. Shea helped his own cause with an RBI single in the fourth inning before Joe DiMaggio’s fifth inning solo homer gave the Yankees enough breathing room to scratch out a tough win.
