The New York Yankees swept the Chicago White Sox in a doubleheader on July 17th, 1932 at Yankee Stadium. The first game went 12 innings, with the Yankees emerging the 4-3 victors. Johnny Allen earned the win, while Red Faber was saddled with his eighth loss of the season. Babe Ruth went 2-6 with an RBI and Lou Gehrig hit the 254th home run of his career in the bottom of the fourth inning off Sad Sam Jones. The second game of the doubleheader saw Red Ruffing outduel Ted Lyons to steer the Yankees to a 3-2 victory over the Sox. Ruffing helped his own cause by driving in two runs, while Joe Sewell collected the Yankees other RBI. The Yankees would go on to win 107 games in the regular season and defeat the Chicago Cubs in a four-game World Series.
