The 2015 New York Mets rode a very strong pitching staff to a first-place finish in the National League East, winning 90 games. Starters Jacob deGrom (14-8, 2.54 ERA) and Matt Harvey (13-8, 2.71 ERA) formed a fantastic one-two punch, while 42-year-old Bartolo Colon tied for the team lead with his 14 victories. Closer Jeurys Familia was dominant, recording 43 saves with a 1.85 ERA. Offensively, Lucas Duda led the Mets with 27 home runs and the acquisition of Yoenis Cespedes further jumpstarted New York’s offense. After getting by a tight NLDS that went the distance against the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York swept the Chicago Cubs to win the National League pennant. Ultimately, the Mets fell to the Kansas City Royals in the World Series.
