Offered is a 70-card near set of the incredibly scarce R87 G. Milkes "Make Faces" non-sports cards issued in the 1930s. Produced in both small-sized (1" x 2"; blank-backed) and large-sized (1-1/2" x 3"; ad-backed) versions, all of these examples display the release's small-sized format. The production contains twelve sub-sets of six cards apiece, including: Presidents Faces, Indian Faces, Sports Faces (featuring Babe Ruth), Dog Faces, Brownie Faces, Movie Faces, Animal Faces, Dwarf Faces, Famous Faces, Radio Faces, Twin Faces and Scrambled Faces. Missing Presidents #21 and Movie Faces #29 for completion. A majority of the cards present at the EX/MT to NM level (a few lesser), but are downgraded on technical terms owing to one or more spots of residue on the items' blank backs. Overall, this is an extremely meaningful group, and our research suggests that this array, in fact, represents the hobby's largest offering of the seldom-seen cards. As a point of reference on value, a group of 45 of the cards (plus wrapper) sold at auction in 2014 for nearly $3,300.
