Manager Bobby Valentine guided the New York Mets to a 94-68 record (and a playoff berth) during the 2000 season. Mike Piazza raked at the dish, hitting .324 with 38 home runs and 113 RBIs. Piazza had help in the form of Edgardo Alfonzo (.324, 25, 94). On the mound, five starters won at least 10 games, led by Al Leiter (16-8 record, 3.20 ERA) and Mike Hampton (15-10, 3.14). Closer Armando Benitez saved 41 games, allowing just 39 hits in 76 innings while striking out 106 batters. In the postseason, the Mets made quick work of the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals (losing just one game in each series) to win the National League pennant. Ultimately, the Mets fell to the New York Yankees in the World Series.

Offered here is a 2000 New York Mets National League championship ring that was presented to John Gibbons, manager of the Norfolk Tides, the Mets’ AAA affiliate. This Jostens 10K ring features the Mets “NY” logo, made up of CZs, set on a large dark colored stone. Around the bezel setting reads “2000 NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS”. One side features logos for both the National League and  the Subway Series, while pennants displaying the team’s pennant-season years are proudly depicted. The name “GIBBONS” and “AMAZIN’ AGAIN” appear at the top of the other side, above an image of the New York skyline. “METS” and “STAFF” are below. The name “John Gibbons” is engraved on the inside of the band along with manufacturer and 10K marks. This ring is an approximate size 10 ½ and weighs approximately 35.0 grams. This ring comes with a LOA from Gibbons.
