The long-standing logic that good pitching beats good hitting was on full display during the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, held at New York’s Citi Field. Lineups were filled with the game’s best hitters such as Mike Trout, David Ortiz, Joey Votto, Paul Goldschmidt, Freddie Freeman, Jose Bautista and Bryce Harper. Yet all of that offense was neutralized by dominant pitching during the American League’s 3-0 victory over the National League. Max Scherzer started the game for the A.L. and was followed out on the mound by the likes of Chris Sale, Felix Hernandez and Mariano Rivera, with the A.L. staff only giving up a combined three hits and one walk – with eight strikeouts – during the shutout.

Offered here is a 2013 MLB All-Star Game ring (A.L. version) that was presented to Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons, who served as a coach for the game. “ALL-STAR GAME 2013” – along with a small MLB logo – appears around a large blue colored stone, on which is set a smaller round orange stone. A single diamond is set on each side of the year 2013. One side of the ring displays the year “2013” above an American League logo, while the other side reads “NEW YORK” above a logo of the All-Star Game. The band – stamped inside with the manufacturer mark and “SS” – shows wear. This ring is an approximate size 12 and weighs approximately 39.6 grams and comes with a LOA from John Gibbons.
