Offered in this lot are three New York Giants season passes from the 1930’s and 1940’s. The first pass is for the 1934 campaign, a year that saw the Giants finish second in the Senior Circuit. Mel Ott led the National League in homers (35) and RBI (135) while posting a .326 batting average, and his fellow Hall of Famer Bill Terry led the club with a .354 average. Carl Hubbell went 21-12 with a 2.30 ERA while “Prince” Hal Schumacher posted a 23-win season. This pass was issued to Frank C. Ferguson of the Long Island Daily Star. It is blue, and it has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (20970753).
The second pass is from the 1937 MLB season. Ott again paced the Senior Circuit in home runs, this time with 31, and the Giants claimed the National League pennant with a record of 95-57. Carl Hubbell recorded a 22-win campaign and Cliff Melton went 20-9 for Bill Terry’s men. This pass was also issued to Frank Ferguson, and it has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (21477417).
The final pass is from the 1943 New York Giants season. A host of Hall of Famers, including Ott, Hubbell, Joe Medwick, and Ernie Lombardi turned out for the Giants, who were also managed by Ott in his second year as player-manager. Hubbell collected the final four wins of his career in 1943, with the Giants retiring his number “11” the following season, making Hubbell the first National Leaguer to have his number retired.
