Offered here is full plate tintype photograph from the 1870s from what appears to be a local baseball team. All nine players are standing in their matching uniforms and hats with the second player from the right leaning on a bat. The player on the right end is holding a ball, along with a young-looking lad second from the left. The players are wearing white long-sleeve tops with wide belts, multi-colored hats and darker pants. The tintype measures approximately 5 ½ x 7 ½ inches while the reverse side measures approximately 6 x 8 ½ inches. The image quality of a photo of this age is excellent, and it is bordered by the original gilt-edged matte and leatherette-bordered glass pane that is approximately 10 x 8 inches. The frame edge shows wear and the back has a tear in the paper covering. A tremendous piece of baseball history captured in this image.
