Stan Hack held down third base for the Cubs from 1932 to 1947, a period in which the team won four pennants. Usually batting around .300 every year, Hack used his hitting ability to get on base, from which point the speedster would swipe any base he could. In a time when base stealing was a lost art, Hack led the NL in that category for two consecutive seasons, 1938 and 1939. This bat was used by Stan Hack during the 1939 to 1943 seasons. The Hillerich & Bradsby Pro Model model bat shows outstanding use with a handle crack repaired with clubhouse nails. Several ball marks and abrasions are visible on the barrel along with cleat imprints. Two small mounting holes are found on the back barrel and knob. The front barrel has a brand reading “K12 Sauer” which may be a factory reference to this bat being sent to the Louisville factory by Ed Sauer, Hack’s teammate on the Cubs from 1943-1945. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B16637) for the game use.
