These two Hall of Famers, “Sunny Jim” Bottomley and Babe Ruth meet before Game 1 of the 1928 World Series at Yankee Stadium. The 7.375 x 8.75 inch image features the usual “handshake” image taken before these contests. The reverse has the original caption, with multiple editor handwritten markings and the Associated Press Stamp. The original filing stamp is from “OCT 7, 1928” but an additional filing date stamp is from “DEC 11, 1959” after the photo was re-issued by the news editors after the death of Jim Bottomley. This was a routine procedure back then and one reason why original images were filed for later usage. This is a tremendous image of two Hall of Famers, including Babe Ruth, used twice several decades apart. This photograph has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA as a Type 1 photograph (1P02475). Additionally, there is a LOA from JSA for the signature.
