The Hall of Fame shortstop Arky Vaughan has signed this magazine page. Vaughan, a native of Clifty, Arkansas, was the premier shortstop in baseball during the 1930’s. Playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Dodgers, Vaughan made nine consecutive National League All-Star teams between 1934 and 1942. An extremely well-rounded hitter, Vaughan led the National League in runs, triples, and on base percentage three times while also claiming the 1935 National League batting crown with a .385 average. Vaughan died at the age of 40 in 1952, and in 1985 was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame via the Veterans Committee. Vaughan has signed this offered album page in black pen. The photograph shows Vaughan in his ready fielding position in a crisp flannel Pirates uniform. This photograph comes with a LOA from JSA.
