Offered in this lot are five stunning baseball photographs of subjects from the early 20th century. The first photograph, a PSA/DNA Type I photograph, shows Buck Weaver of the Chicago White Sox stretching for a ground ball. The photograph measures 6.5 x 8.5 inches and was issued by Paul Thompson. It is accompanied by a PSA/DNA Type I LOA (84121041). The second photograph is a Type I photograph of Mel Ott from 1928. This Associated Press photograph shows Ott from the chest up in a New York Giants uniform. It measures 6 x 8 inches and comes with a PSA/DNA Type I STICKER ONLY (1P03715).
The third photograph shows Eddie Collins of the Chicago White Sox extending to make a play in front of the camera. The photograph measures 6.25 x 8 inches. The fourth photograph shows Babe Ruth playing first base for the Yankees. “The Babe” is tossing a ball in the general vicinity of the pitcher or catcher while wearing a first baseman’s glove. The photograph measures 4 x 6 inches. The final photograph in this lot shows Ruth hustling out of the batter’s box to first base during Game 1 of the 1923 World Series against the New York Giants. This photograph measures 8 x 5.5 inches.
