Offered in this lot is a handwritten and signed note from the legendary Hall of Fame hurler Cy Young. Young, baseball’s all-time leader in wins, pitched from 1890 to 1912 for the Cleveland Spiders/Naps, the Boston Americans/Red Sox, and several other franchises. Young finished six seasons with an ERA under 2.00 and led the Americans to the first ever World Series title in 1903, pitching 34 innings in just four appearances. In this handwritten note, Young refers to his baseball escapades before his Major League career, including playing semi-professional ball in 1885. He makes reference to the city of Red Cloud, Nebraska, specifically. Young has signed this 3.25 x 5.25-inch note in black steel-tip fountain pen. The note is mounted on a rigid backing. This historic note comes with a LOA from JSA (Y26468).
