In 1980, Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski was wrapping up his career by moving over to the DH spot. Although at age 40 he was among the oldest players in the league, the slugger hit .275 with 15 homers. In 1981, Yaz added seven more home runs to his career total and posted 53 RBI. Yaz’s Louisville Slugger D113 model bat displays outstanding use with a handle crack. Many ball marks are visible on the right and back barrel along with green bat rack paint streaks. The handle had been taped in a wide spiral pattern to enhance the grip but has been removed. Yap’s number “8” and “Game” are written on the knob in black marker. Also included in this lot is an X-Ray signed in silver marker by Yaz showing the bat being corked and a corresponding CD with the images of the X-Rays. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13179) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9, plus a COA from Beckett Authentication Services for the signature on the bat and the signed X-Ray has been pre-certified by Beckett Authentication.
