In 1956, the National League champion Brooklyn Dodgers embarked on a historic goodwill tour of Japan. The tour, which included 20 exhibition games against Japanese opposition, was held in late October and November as the Dodgers spent a month enjoying the sights and sounds of the Far East. The tour was organized by Matsutaro Shoriki, the founder of the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper and a hugely influential figure in Japanese baseball. This offered photo album has 29 pages of pictures, with 34 total photographs, ranging from action shots of gameplay during the tour to photographs of Jackie and Rachel Robinson touring temples, restaurants, and more. This scrapbook comes in the original binding, with “Brooklyn Dodgers Goodwill Tour of Japan / 1956 / Yomiuri Shimbun / Tokyo, Japan” printed on the front cover in gold. Please note that one page of this book is not longer attached to the binding, but it is in otherwise fantastic condition.
