Rickey Henderson is widely considered the greatest leadoff hitter to have played the game. 13 times in his career, he scored more than 100 runs in a single season and retired with a MLB record 2,295 runs scored. Henderson led the league in stolen bases 12 times in his career and retired with a MLB record 1,406 stolen bases. Henderson played for nine different organizations, but spent most of his time, in separate stints, with the Oakland Athletics.
Henderson wore this size 42 Russell Athletic Oakland A’s home jersey during the 1993 season, where he appeared in 80 games before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. This button-down jersey features “Athletics” sewn across the chest in green and yellow tackle twill with a paraph. Henderson’s number “24” is sewn on in green and yellow tackle twill on the center left chest. The back of the jersey has “HENDERSON” sewn on in green and yellow tackle twill on a matching white nameplate, while his number “24” is sewn on below in the same green and yellow tackle twill. The left sleeve has the Athletics’ Elephant & Bat logo patch sewn on with the right sleeve having the green embroidered Russell Athletic logo. The Russell Athletic tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail. This jersey displays light use and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
