Johnny Mize, the big first baseman, was one of the most feared home run hitters in a career that spanned both leagues and three decades. In 1949 Mize was picked up by the New York Yankees who used the aging slugger in a utility/pinch hitting role. Size excelled in his new job, hitting 25 home runs in 1950 that made him only the second player in history to record 25 homers in each league. His three round-trippers against the Dodgers in the 1952 World Series proved to be the deciding factor in the Yankees 7-game win. Big Jawn’s 1950-53 era Hanna Batrite 3M model bat shows outstanding use with a handle crack. Some checking from repeated ball contact is found on the right and back barrel and there are ball marks seen on the right left and back barrel. The handle had once been taped in a spiral pattern, but this has since been removed. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13293) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.
