Such was Mantle’s talent in football that the University of Oklahoma offered “The Commerce Comet” a football scholarship during his high school years. Offered here is a 1948 Commerce High School yearbook featuring Mickey Mantle. Mantle appears numerous times in this yearbook, including in his official school portrait. Mantle also makes an appearance in this yearbook in the basketball and football team photographs. The cover of this yearbook is blue, with a roaring tiger and “1948 Bengal Tales” etched in high relief on the front cover.
