The 1941 Heisman Trophy winner Bruce Smith has signed this offered newspaper photograph. Smith, a native of Faribault, Minnesota, played collegiately for the Minnesota Golden Gophers in 1940 and 1941 as their starting quarterback. Smith rushed for 473 yards and five touchdowns while passing for 320 yards and two scores for the 8-0, National Champion Golden Gophers. Smith’s NFL debut was delayed due to service in World War II, but he would play four seasons in the NFL from 1945 to 1948 with the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams. This offered newspaper photograph has been cut into a circular shape with a diameter of just under six inches. Smith has signed this newspaper photograph in black pen.
