Lou Gehrig was the silent leader on some of the game's greatest teams. In a career that spanned two Yankees dynasties, Gehrig came up as an understudy to Babe Ruth and finished as a mentor to Joe DiMaggio. Along the way he won six World Championships, two American League MVP Awards and a Triple Crown. His tragic death at age 37 makes his signature one of the most sought after of any Hall of Famers.
This offered cut features Gehrig’s signature signed in blue pen. The cut itself has a profile picture of The Iron Horse in his Yankees pinstripes and features a brief bio. Based on the information on the bio, this cut was most likely produced sometime in 1936 as it mentions “Only a short while ago he played in his 1800th consecutive American League game.” The cut measures 3 ½ x 2 ½ inches and Gehrig’s signature displays beautifully on this slightly toned cut. This signed cut has been encapsulated and authenticated by SGC and JSA (X21493).
