Although Ryno is always thought of in a Cubbies uniform, the Hall of Famer actually made his first appearance with the Phillies in 1981. After being traded in January of 1982, Sandberg began his storied career with the Cubs for the 1982 season, the year he was swung this offered Louisville Slugger. Ryno hit a nice .271, good enough to convince the Cubs that this was a guy they needed in Chicago. Sandberg’s rookie season Louisville Slugger K55 model bat shows excellent use with a very slight handle crack. The barrel shows several ball marks with stitch impressions on the front, right and left sides and the impression of a weighted batting donut can be seen. There is the impression from a weighted batting donut visible and a light coat of pine tar is on the handle. Sandberg’s number “23” is written on the knob in blue marker and the Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in black marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B16667) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5, plus a COA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
