On August 4th, 2007 Alex Rodriguez completed the inevitable by launching the 500th home run of his Hall of Fame-caliber Major League Baseball career. Rodriguez, a three-time American League MVP and a member of the 3,000 Hit Club, reached the milestone home run at Yankee Stadium against the Kansas City Royals. Rodriguez came to bat against Kyle Davies in the bottom of the first inning with Derek Jeter on second and Bobby Abreu on first, jumping on the first pitch of the at-bat with an almost languid swing. The ball flew down the left field line, landing among a crowd of Yankee fans in the left field seats, scoring three runs and making Rodriguez the youngest player ever to reach 500 longballs. Rodriguez was named the 2007 American League MVP after finishing the season with 54 homers and 156 RBI, both MLB leading numbers, as well as a .314 average, 24 steals, 143 runs, and the best slugging percentage, OPS, and OPS+ in baseball.

Offered here is the jersey and pants worn by Alex Rodriguez during his 500th home run game on August 4th, 2007. The jersey is a pinstriped button-down Yankees home jersey with the interlocking “NY” logo sewn on the left chest in navy tackle twill. Rodriguez’s number “13” is sewn on the back of the jersey in the same fashion. A black memorial armband for Corey Lidle is sewn on the left sleeve. A weathered MLB logo patch is sewn on the back outside collar. A Majestic tag with three flags, including a size “48” flag, is sewn on the front left tail. Rodriguez has signed the right chest of this jersey in black marker, inscribing “Game Worn 8/4/2007 500th Career Home Run” and “MVP 2007”. The chest of this jersey is covered in a large dirt stain.

The pants included in this lot are also white pinstriped Yankee pants. A Majestic tag and a “13 Rodriguez 35-40 34 OB C 07” swatch are sewn on the back inside waistband. The pants are replete with dirt stains. Rodriguez has signed the left leg in black marker, inscribing “Game Worn 8/4/2007 500th Career Home Run” and “MVP 2007”. The jersey (BB 566975) and pants (BB 566986) both come with an MLB Authenticated hologram, and each item comes with an individual LOA signed by Alex Rodriguez.
