The New York Yankees played their final game at the old Yankee Stadium on September 21st, 2008 against the Baltimore Orioles. Behind a three-run homer from Johnny Damon and a two-run blast from Jose Molina, the Yankees ended their 85-year tenure at The House That Ruth Built with a solid 7-3 win over Baltimore. Andy Pettitte earned the win, while Mariano Rivera pitched a perfect ninth to clinch the victory for the Bronx Bombers. Alex Rodriguez drew two walks in this game as his very presence in the batter’s box terrified the Oriole hurlers.
Offered in this lot are Rodriguez’s game used Nike Shox A-Rod model cleats from the final game at Yankee Stadium. These cleats are black, with white Nike swoosh logos sewn on each side of the cleats and on the tongues. Eight metal spikes and an additional Nike swoosh are located on the sole of each cleat. Rodriguez’s personal logo and his number “13” are embroidered on the heels in white. Rodriguez has signed the toe of each shoe in silver marker, inscribing “Final Game At Yankee Stadium” and “9/21/08” on the left cleat and “9/21/08 Final Game At Yankee Stadium GU 08” on the right cleat. These size 12 cleats come with a pair of MLB Authenticated holograms (LH 167238, LH 167239) and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
