There’s an old adage is sports that says, “sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good”. In the case of Bryce Harper, he is both “lucky” and good. The young lefty is considered one of the premier talents in all of baseball as witnessed by his impressive career totals of 184 home runs, .279batting average and a .512 slugging percentage entering the 2019 season, all at the young age of 26. 24 of those 184 career home runs came in 2016, when he also chipped in 86 RBI.
Offered is this very rare, full-season used Washington Nationals 2016 alternate “lucky” navy jersey used by Bryce Harper for all 12 games the Nationals wore their blues and Harper played. According to the game used experts at Sports Investors Authentication, this jersey “was procured directly from the Washington Nationals baseball club.” Sports Investors has also photo matched this jersey to all 12 games Harper wore this jersey (April 22, 27, May 13, 27, 29, June 10, July 1, 15, 22, August 5, September 9 & 11. All told, Harper hit a combined 8-38 with a home run (career home run 108), five RBI and 11 walks.
This navy size 48 button-down Majestic FlexBase Nationals jersey has the Washington “W” sewn on in stars and stripes tackle twill on the upper left chest. Harper’s number “34” is sewn on the center right chest in white and red tackle twill. White and red piping are linked together and run around the collar and down both sides of the buttons and along the sleeve ends. The left sleeve has the Nationals’ logo patch, which is above the Majestic logo that is embroidered in white. The back of the jersey has the vinyl MLB logo patch above the piping, with “HARPER” and his number “34” sewn on in white and red tackle twill. The Majestic FlexBase size 48 tag is screen-printed on the bottom front left tail, while an additional Majestic tag is screen printed vertically on the inside right-center front tail and has “#34 2016 48 474” markings. This jersey comes full authenticated with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication (17345D8), who have authenticated use of this jersey by Harper and photo matched this jersey aforementioned 12 games in 2016. Also included in this lot is a ticket stub from the May 13th, 2016 game against the Miami Marlins at Nationals Park and a 2017 Topps Bashers Bryce Harper card showing Harper wearing this jersey in 2016.
