The Yankees captain had a milestone year in 2012. In September Jeter surpassed Willie Mays on the all-time career hit list and finished the season tops in the AL with 216 hits. He led the Yanks into the post-season and was batting .364 when an injury put him on the bench.
Jeter has over 3,300 career hits, all made with the same model Louisville Slugger bat. The P72 we offer here dates from Jeter’s historic 2012 season and shows great game use. The handle has been cracked and ball marks, including three tremendous ones, can be found on the barrel. A heavy coat of pine tar coats the handle. Factory stamping on the handle reads “09/06/12” and 340132.0”. This particular model bat is made directly to the Yankees captain’s specifications and can not be sold to anyone but him. Bat was used for multiple hits and has been photo matched in the 2nd inning on August 29, 2012 against the Toronto Blue Jays. This bat was used by Jeter the week of 9/24/12 to 9/30/12 to smack hits 3,295-3,298. Letter of Authenticity from Yankees-Steiner signed by Derek Jeter. Also, a full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number 1B05896, with a PSA/DNA grade of GU 9.5.
