The 1978 Los Angeles Dodgers won the National League pennant for the second year in a row. Their 95-67 record was tops in the National League Western Division, a full three games ahead of the Cincinnati Reds. The Phillies took care of the NL Eastern Division Champion Philadelphia Phillies in four games (3-1) to earn their second consecutive trip to the World Series. Despite winning the first two games of the 1978 World Series, the Dodgers fell to the New York Yankees for the second-straight Fall Classic in six games.
This offered Los Angeles Dodgers 1978 National League Championship pendant was presented to Irene Le John, the wife of long-time scout Don “Ducky” LeJohn. DeJohn played one season for the Dodgers in 1965 and then served the organization as a minor league manager and scout. This 14K gold pendant is the same design as the championship ring top that the players and staff received and features a large blue stone in the center with the Dodgers script and a large diamond above the logo. Surrounding the center blue stone reads “NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 1978”. The back of the pendant has engraved “Irene Le John” and “14K. The pendant, which weighs approximately 11 grams is in good condition with some scratches and fading on the back. This pendant comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (Y01320).
