Presented here are 15 game used baseballs from the 2015, 2106 and 2017 Chicago Cubs games. During those three seasons, the Cubs made the postseason in all three years and won the first World Series title in 108 years when they won it all in 2016. The first set of baseballs are five orbs from the 2015 postseason. The first ball is an Official Ball 2015 Postseason Robert D. Manfred Jr stamped baseball that was used during the 2015 National League Wild Card Game. Riding the arm of Jake Arrieta, the Cubs blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0 as Arrieta pitched a complete-game five-hitter, while striking out 11 batters. This ball was thrown by Arrieta to Pirates infielder Pedro Alvarez who fouled this ball off the screen in the bottom of the third inning. This ball has been signed by Cubs’ manager Joe Maddon on the sweet spot in blue pen and inscribed “2015 Wild Card”. This baseball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ929372) for the game use and Maddon’s signature.

The next four baseballs were from the Cubs 3-1 NLDS series win over archrival St. Louis and all have stamped “OFFICIAL BALL 2015 POSTSEASON”. The first ball was used in Game 1, a Cardinal’s 4-0 win. This ball was thrown by Cardinals’ pitcher John Lackey to Cubs batter Addison Russell in the top of the third inning that was hit for a foul ball. This ball has been signed by Cubs’ manager Joe Maddon on the sweet spot in blue pen and inscribed “Game 1 NLDS ‘15”. This baseball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB115373) for the game use and Maddon’s signature. The next ball was used in Game 2 of the NLDS, a Cubs 6-3 win to even the series. Cardinals’ pitcher threw this ball to Cubs batter Kyle Hendricks who fouled this ball of the back screen. This ball has been signed by Cubs’ manager Joe Maddon on the sweet spot in blue pen and inscribed “Game 2 NLDS 2015”. This baseball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB115435) for the game use and Maddon’s signature. The next ball was used in Game 3 in Chicago’s 8-6 win at Wrigley Field. This ball has been signed by Cubs’ manager Joe Maddon on the sweet spot in blue pen and inscribed “Game 3 NLDS”. This baseball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB117555) for the game use and Maddon’s signature. The last ball from the NLDS was used in Game 4 in the Cubs 6-4 victory to close out the series. This ball has been signed by Cubs’ manager Joe Maddon on the sweet spot in blue pen and inscribed “NLDS Game 4 WIN”. This baseball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB117019) for the game use and Maddon’s signature.

The next set of baseballs are from the Cubs’ historic 2016 season when they won 103 games and won the franchise’s first World Series title since 1908. The first baseball is an Official Major League Robert D. Manfred Jr baseball used during the September 21st game at Wrigley Field against the Reds. The Cubs won the game 9-2 to record their 97th victory. The ball has “A CENTURY OF BASEBALL AT WRIGLEYFIELD 1916 2016” stamp on the side panel. This ball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB398196) for the game use. The next baseball was also used at Wrigley field during the next game, just two days later on September 23rd against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs won this game 5-0 behind Jake Arrieta’s seven shutout innings. This is an Official Major League Robert D. Manfred Jr baseball with “A CENTURY OF BASEBALL AT WRIGLEYFIELD 1916 2016” stamp on the side panel. This ball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB960058). The next baseball was used on September 27th during the Cubs 101st victory of the season as this Official Major League Robert D. Manfred Jr baseball with “A CENTURY OF BASEBALL AT WRIGLEYFIELD 1916 2016” stamp on the side panel was used in the bottom of the eighth inning at Pittsburgh when Andrew McCutchen reached on an infield error. The ball has a large dirt stain. This ball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB999330) for the game use. That two baseballs of the 2016 regular season were used for the Cubs’ 102nd and 103rd victories on September 30th and October 2nd. The September 30th ball was used at Cincinnati during Chicago’s 7-3 victory when Cubs’ pitcher Jake Buchanan threw his pitch in the dirt during a bottom of the third inning at-bat by Jose Peraza. The ball has a large dirt scuff mark on the side panel. This ball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ949572). The October 2nd ball from Chicago’s 103rd win and was also used for a pitch in the dirt, this time from pitcher Kyle Hendricks in the bottom of the fourth inning against Reds’ batter Tony Renda. The ball has dirt marks on the side panel and stitching. This ball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ949082).

The final set of baseballs in this lot were used in the Cubs’ historic run to the World Series title and a ball from Opening Day 2017, celebrating their monumental victory. The 2016 baseballs were used during the NLDS against San Francisco and have the “OFFICIAL 2016 POSTSEASON” stamp. The first ball was used in Game 1 at Wrigley Field, a Cubs 1-0 victory. This ball shows excellent game use and comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB960584). The second ball was used in Game 2 at Wrigley field during Chicago’s 5-2 victory and displays solid game use. This comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB960180). The next ball was thrown by Sergio Romo of the Giants to Javier Baez of the Cubs in the top of the 10th inning in Game 3. Romo threw two pitches with this ball, a flyout by Addison Russell and a pitch in the dirt to Javier Baez, when it was taken out of play. The Cubs took a commanding 3-0 series lead with a hard-fought 13-inning 6-5 win. This ball displays excellent game use with dirt scuff mark on the side panel. This ball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JC042751). The last ball from the 2016 NLDS was thrown by Cubs pitcher John Lackey to Giants’ batter Joe Panik in the bottom of the 2nd inning. This ball was thrown into the dirt and taken out of play. It displays heavy game use. The Cubs completed the sweep of the Giants with a 6-5 victory. This ball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JC042189). The final ball in this entire lot was used during Opening Day in 2017 on April 2nd, 2017. This ball was thrown by Cubs pitcher Jon Lester to Cardinals batter Jhonny Peralta in the bottom of the third inning for three pitches. The ball displays outstanding game use and comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB962775).
