Presented is a 132-card complete set of R164 "War Gum" trading cards produced by Gum, Inc. in 1941/42 plus 8 duplicates. This issue offered illustrations that were a noticeable improvement over other editions of the time while forgoing the elevated level of brutality of the firm's earlier "Horrors of War" release. The "War Gum" set was well-designed, and delivered a wealth of information relating to current news, biographies of important world figures (FDR, Douglas MacArthur, Winston Churchill, and many others), and events of the ongoing conflict that altered the course of the 20th Century. The "High Number" series of cards (#85-132) are considered somewhat scarcer than the earlier cards in the set. Grades 17% EX to EX/MT (mostly EX), 83% VG to VG/EX (some slightly lesser).
