Presented is a 48-card complete set of R173 Gum, Inc. "World in Arms" issued in 1939. This is one of the most attractive of the so-called "propaganda" issues from the late 1930s. The viewer is free to take in the questionable glamour of war-making machinery without distraction with the card-sized painting art, and no interruption of design for captions or advertising. The cards' subjects will educate the collector about all sorts of military hardware. The card's subjects and count include: Airplanes (16); Field Artillery (4); Fortifications (4); Iron Cavalry (4); Miscellaneous (8) and Ships (12). One card (Airplanes 6) has a desirable "Sample Back." Grades 40% EX to EX/MT (mostly EX), 60% VG to VG/EX (two lesser).
