In the early 1960s, the National Football League produced legends each weekend in the fall, none with more lasting impact than the great Green Bay Packers teams coached by Vince Lombardi. In 1962, the Packers went 13-1, scored 415 points, allowed 148 points, and overall dominated with 267-point differential. The team wasn't just loaded with talent, but Hall of Fame talent. Lombardi was a Hall of Fame coach, but these Packers had five future members of the Hall on offense (QB Bart Starr, C Jim Ringo, OL Forrest Gregg, HB Paul Hornung, and FB Jim Taylor) and five more on defense (LB Ray Nitschke, DT Henry Jordan, DE Willie Davis, S Willie Wood, and DB Herb Adderley). The Packers' defense allowed the Giants 291 yards in the NFL championship game but held the Giants offense scoreless (except for a blocked punt) as the Packers won the 1962 NFL Championship, 16–7.
Presented are the signatures of over 40 members of the 1962 NFL Champion Green Bay Packers on a vintage Wilson “The Duke” Football (Pete Rozelle, Commissioner). The tan leather football has tan leather laces, with black stamping from “Thorp Sporting Goods Inc. New York.” The signatures are in black pen on the two blank panels of the football, and include Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Herb Adderley, and Ray Nitschke, among others. A second inscription in blue pen is signed “Good Luck, Paul Hornung.” This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
