Former outfielder Lenny Dykstra was a key member of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets team. After being dealt to Philadelphia in 1989, Dykstra again was a key player in the resurgent Phillies as his clutch hitting helped Philadelphia reach the World Series in 1993. Dykstra used this maroon Phillies batting helmet during the 1989-91 seasons. This size 7 1/8 American Baseball Cap Company (ABC) helmet features the Phillies’ “P” affixed on the front in a white sticker. Dykstra’s number “4” is on the front of the brim in a white sticker. The interior of the helmet has a padded head band with a foam center pad on the top of the head. A white sticker is on the bottom side of the brim with the Phillies logo and address (Veterans Stadium) with “Live #80 Dykstra 1991 Batting Helmet” handwritten in black marker, indicating that this helmet was originally obtained from the Philadelphia Phillies Live Auction. Dykstra has signed his name in black marker on the brim and inscribed “#4”. This helmet displays excellent game use and comes with a LOA from JT Sports, who have determined that this helmet was used during the 1991 season, plus a LOA from MEARS (316236) who have dated this helmet to the 1989-91 seasons. Additionally, there is a COA from JSA (V85290) for Dykstra’s signature.
