After being a hard-luck pitcher in previous World Series’ where he boasted a 1.32 ERA but 2-4 record, Eddie Plank came through in the fifth and deciding game of the 1913 Fall Classic, out-dueling Christy Mathewson for the Championship. On November 6, 1913, Plank’s hometown of Gettysburg threw a celebratory dinner for their local hero at the Eagle Hotel. After the dinner a participant had four of the World Champion A’s sign his menu: Harry Davis, Eddie Collins, Connie Mack and Eddie Plank. All four men have signed the menu in dark pencil. The menu has been professionally matted and framed along with two black and white period shots of both Plank and Collins. The display measures 18 ½ x 36 ¾ inches. This piece comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signatures and has been graded a near-perfect Mint 9.
