1951 was the year the NY Yankees won its third (of five) consecutive World Series. Loaded with mature and youthful talent, the juggernaut eclipsed the crosstown rival Giants, four games to two in the fall classic.
The OAL-Harridge Baseball contains the signatures of 29 Yankees, including Joe DiMaggio, Casey Stengel , Yogi Berra, Vic Raschi, Johnny Sain, Johnny Mize, Phil Rizzuto, Bobby Brown, Hank Bauer, Tommy Heinrich, Allie Reynolds, Stubby Overmire, Bob Kuzava, Tom Morgan, Gil McDougald, Joe Ostrowski, Gene Woodling, Joe Collins, Charlie Silvera, Bob Cery, Jim Kramer, Art Schallock, Bob Wiesler and six others. The autographs of Johnny Hopp, Ed Lopat and Ralph Houk are considered clubhouse signatures. The ball’s official blue ink stamp is fading, but legible. The autographs are written in blue ink and DiMaggio signed on the sweet spot (grade 9). All other signatures grade 7 or 8.
