Joe Pepitone wore this first baseman’s glove during the 1970 season, which he spent with the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs. “Pepi” began the year an Astro before his contract was purchased by the Cubs in late July. Pepitone had nearly even splits during the 1970 season, hitting 14 homers with the ‘Stros and 12 with the Cubs, while knocking in a total of 79 runs in his 131 games. The former Yankee and three-time All-Star played three more seasons in the Majors, and 14 games for the Yakult Atoms of Japan, before he ended his illustrious playing career.
This first baseman’s glove is dark brown, with an extended palm two-piece web, a “Pre-Formed Double Pocket”, and a Wilson label on the back of the wrist strap.”PEPITONE” is written on the back of the thumb in black marker. Pepitone added a traditional signature below his name, also in black marker. This glove, which shows outstanding use throughout, comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1G00401) for game use, and a LOA from JSA (Z58688) for the signature.
