Under the tutelage of legendary manager Casey Stengel – and behind the power bat of Mickey Mantle – the New York Yankees finished the 1955 regular season with a record of 96-58, tops in the American League. Mantle hit 37 home runs, while batting .306 with 121 runs scored. Yogi Berra added 27 homers and knocked in 108 runs. Whitey Ford led the pitching staff, posting an 18-7 record with a 2.63 ERA. The Yankees would lose the 1955 World Series, in seven games, to the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Presented here is a Balfour 14K gold 1955 New York Yankees American League champions salesman sample ring, featuring a wonderful depiction of the Yankees famed top hat and bat logo, with red, white and blue stones filling in the hat. Additional stones (one larger of each of red, white and blue) also appear. “AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS” reads in relief lettering around the outer perimeter. An image of a baseball and the year 1955 appear on each side of the ring. Inside the band is marked “BALFOUR 14K”. This ring is an approximate size 10 ½ with the weight being approximately 34.4 grams.
