Presented is a lot of two Los Angeles Dodgers practice-used jerseys, inscribed and signed by former Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop and coach Maury Wills.  He played for the Dodgers from 1959 through 1966 and the latter part of 1969 through 1972 as a shortstop and switch-hitter; he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1967 and 1968, and the Montreal Expos the first part of 1969. Wills was an essential component of the Dodgers' championship teams in the mid-1960s and is credited for reviving the stolen base as part of baseball strategy. He was the National League Most Valuable Player in 1962, stealing a record 104 bases to break the old modern era mark of 96, set by Ty Cobb in 1915. He was an All-Star for five seasons and seven All-Star Games and was the first MLB All-Star Game Most Valuable Player in 1962.

The first item in this lot is a blue Dodgers jersey, which Willis has inscribed and signed in silver marker on the right front chest, “To John My coaches game used jersey Your Friend Maury Willis #30”. The blue short-sleeve jersey has the script “Dodgers” across the six-button front embroidered in blue with white borders, and the number “30” in red with white outline on the left chest. The back of the jersey has the MLB logo embroidered in red, white and blue on the collar, and the number “30” embroidered in blue with white outline. This item comes with a LOA from Wills.

The second item in this lot is a blue and white game-used Dodgers batting practice jersey, which Willis has signed and inscribed on the back in blue marker. The back of the jersey has “Wills” in white letters with silver borders; Wills has inscribed “To John” on the “W” with a smiley face below the inscription. On the numeral “3”, Wills has inscribed “2,134 hits 7 All-Star Games Record 165 Games Played in Single Season 4 World Series ’59 ’63 ’65 ’66 #1 Pro Athlete of Year 1962”.  On the numeral “0” Willis has signed his name, and inscribed “MVP NL ’62 586 Total Stolen Bases MVP A/S ’62 3 Times W.S. Champs 104 Steals 1962”. The pullover jersey has one button on the front collar, and the Dodgers script embroidered across the front in silver, gray and white. This item comes with a LOA from Wills.
